At the suggestion of a friend (who happened to be a Zebra with JRD) I entered the world of Roller Derby, as a Spectator, in February 2013 with a Jacksonville Junior Roller Derby bout against The Attack Pack. I stepped it up a notch at the July Recruitment Night and had the fortune to be at the Scorekeeper’s Table for several high profile Jacksonville bouts. I currently serve as Committee Head for Communications and have spent the last 3 years manning social media for JRD
It would be February 2014 when I finally dipped my toes into Fresh Meat training and putting my 20+ years classical dance training to use as a Skater! I’ve traveled to Montréal, Quebec and all over the Southeastern United States, thanks to Roller Derby!
My day job is as a Registered Dietitian and I often find a way to work Roller Derby into various conversations with my patients! It is my chosen profession from which I draw my derby name, Vitamean Beane. (Everyone calls me Beane for short) I am also a Rockstar to my niece and nephews, as well as all my friends’ kids
